Sacred Shakti Peeth on Chandrabadni Mountain with 360° Himalayan Panorama
Commanding the isolated summit of Chandrabadni Mountain at a majestic elevation of 2,277 meters (7,470 feet) in the Tehri Garhwal district, Maa Chandrabadni Temple is one of the most powerful and spiritually revered Shakti Peeths in the Garhwal Himalayas.
According to the Skanda Purana, when Lord Shiva traversed the heavens bearing the body of Goddess Sati, her torso (body/body parts) fell upon this windswept mountain crest. Consequently, all her celestial weapons fell here as well, and the mountain is considered so sacred that no physical idol is worshipped. Instead, an ancient consecrated Sri Yantra carved on a flat stone slab is worshipped beneath a sanctified cloth canopy.
In traditional folk custom, even the head priest ties a silken cloth over his eyes while performing the annual ceremonial change of the sacred canopy (Chhatra). Rising high above the surrounding hills, Chandrabadni rewards pilgrims with an astounding, uninterrupted 360-degree panorama of Kedarnath, Badrinath, Chaukhamba, and Trishul peaks to the north, and the vast valleys of Tehri and Pauri Garhwal to the south.
Ideal for sightseeing, pilgrimage walks, and exploring forest paths with pleasant daytime sunshine and refreshing mountain air.
Transforming the hillsides into lush emerald landscapes with cascading mountain streams, blooming wild flora, and misty valley vistas.
Crystal clear panoramic views of snow-capped Himalayan peaks, golden post-monsoon sunsets, and peaceful alpine ambience.
