Trail Overview & Topography

The Mayali Pass Trek (5,300m) is an epic high-mountain traverse linking the Bhilangna river basin in Tehri Garhwal with the sacred Mandakini valley in Rudraprayag. Famous among experienced trekkers, this route passes near the Khatling Glacier and visits two sublime high glacial tarns: Masar Tal and Vasuki Tal.

Starting from Ghuttu, the trail climbs through remote Himalayan hamlets like Gangi into the vast wilderness of Chowki meadow. The ascent to Mayali Pass involves negotiating steep boulder scree and snow slopes.

From the summit of Mayali Pass, trekkers are greeted with panoramic vistas of Thalay Sagar, Kedar Dome, and Chaukhamba before descending past Vasuki Tal to conclude at the holy shrine of Kedarnath.

High-Altitude Preparedness & Leave No Trace

Trekkers are reminded to stay properly hydrated with a minimum of 3-4 liters of water daily. Uttarakhand forest regulations strictly forbid single-use plastics and campfires outside designated grounds. Always pack out non-biodegradable waste.

Peaks Visible on Trail

Along the ridgelines and summit ascents of Mayali Pass Trek, trekkers are treated to sweeping views of legendary Garhwal & Kumaon summits:
