A fierce high-altitude pass expedition connecting the Darma and Byans valleys at nearly 5,500m across glaciers, scree, and crevasses in eastern Kumaon.
Rising to a staggering 5,495 meters (18,028 feet) in the extreme eastern corner of Kumaon, Sin La Pass is one of Uttarakhand's most formidable trans-valley crossings. It connects the remote Darma Valley with the sacred Byans Valley near the Nepal and Tibet borders.
Starting from Dar in the Darma valley, the route ascends past Bedang through high glacial moraines to the base of the pass. The ascent over Sin La involves steep ice slopes, narrow rock gullies, and navigating hidden crevasses.
From the summit of Sin La, mountaineers enjoy an overwhelming vista across the Panchachuli peaks, the jagged spires of the Byans valley, and Mount Api across the border in western Nepal.
Trekkers are reminded to stay properly hydrated with a minimum of 3-4 liters of water daily. Uttarakhand forest regulations strictly forbid single-use plastics and campfires outside designated grounds. Always pack out non-biodegradable waste.
Along the ridgelines and summit ascents of Pithoragarh Sin La Pass Trek, trekkers are treated to sweeping views of legendary Garhwal & Kumaon summits:
Transit to eastern border valleys.

Ascend past Panchachuli viewpoints to Bedang.
